In accordance with the European Union’s right-to-repair 2023 policy, Nintendo will offer a policy-compliant version of its Switch 2 console and other products.
According to the company, these products will have model numbers that start with “BEE.” Consoles with replaceable batteries will have differing model numbers and the code “OSM” visible on their packaging.
Unfortunately for those in other regions, the newer-model Switch 2 consoles will likely only be available in the EU. Nintendo did not say when it will start to sell the newer Switch 2 variant or how much it will cost.
According to the EU’s right-to-repair policy, batteries for “certain appliances” sold in the region must be easier to replace for anyone wanting to open up their devices. The policy is set to kick in on February 18. 2027.
