At Mobile World Congress in Barcelona today, phone maker Honor confirmed its Robot Phone is arriving later this year.
Contrary to its name, the Robot Phone is not a robot. Instead, it received its name thanks to the gimbal-stabilized 200-megapixel primary camera around back.
According to Honor, this is the smallest 4DoF gimbal system in the industry. It will make use of various tracking modes, along with the ability to shake or nod its “head” and “dance” to music.
The rest of the Robot Phone remains a mystery, though it will likely command a decently high price. Also, do not expect it to be the most repairable phone around. That gimbal system will likely have many moving parts that repair shops likely won’t have.
