Earlier this week, Nintendo quietly updated the original Switch console and finally fixed the eShop.
Let’s rewind. Although the eShop on the original Switch was a separate app, it was more of a web wrapper. As a result, it wasn’t as responsive, would often take way too much time to load, and overall just felt sluggish.
With the update, Nintendo has replaced the web wrapper version of the eShop with a native app. The result is an eShop that sees dramatically improved performance and speed.
On one end, this is a matter of “too little, too late.” The original Switch is over nine years old, and Nintendo is slowly shifting its focus to the more powerful Switch 2.
That said, millions of people still play on the original Switch, so this is a welcome update regardless.
