Trump Mobile suffers a data breach

As if the situation around prepaid carrier Trump Mobile wasn’t strange enough, the company confirmed there was a data breach.

First reported by YouTube creator Coffeezilla, the breach exposed every order placed for the T1 Phone. It also exposed email addresses, phone numbers, and mailing addresses. The only silver lining is no credit card details were exposed.

In a statement, Trump Mobile said the breach is currently under investigation.

“The impacted information appears to be limited to certain customer details, including names, email addresses, mailing addresses, order identifiers and mobile phone numbers,” reads the statement sent to The Verge.

“Out of an abundance of caution, our third-party platform provider has implemented additional safeguards and enhanced monitoring measures while the matter continues to be investigated.”

This comes after Trump Mobile said it started to ship out its T1 Phone to customers. Some media outlets, such as CNET and NBC, received units, though the majority of customers have seemingly not yet received their orders.
