The Elder Scrolls: Blades calling it quits this summer

Bethesda announced it will shut downs servers for The Elder Scrolls: Blades on June 30 across all platforms.

Until then, prices for all in-game items have dropped to 1 Gem or 1 Sigil each. Because this is an online-only game, however, all items and the game itself will be inaccessible once servers shut down.

Released in May 2020 on iOS, Android, and the Nintendo Switch, The Elder Scrolls: Blades was Bethesda’s attempt at a free-to-play mobile game. It takes place sometime between The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion and The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim.

Critically, the game did not perform well. The Switch version only garnered an average score of 42 out of 100 on Metacritic, while only 8 percent of critics recommended the game on OpenCritic.

On the flip side, The Elder Scrolls: Blades was a commercial success, at least at the beginning. Within one week of the game’s early access launch on iOS, it garnered over one million downloads and close to $500,000 in revenue. After one month, that increased to $1.5 million.
