Don’t expect Apple’s rumored foldable iPhone to release at the same time as its Pro siblings.
During a live Q&A on Bloomberg, reporter Mark Gurman said the foldable iPhone will launch after the iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max. Gurman attributed the different launch timelines to the difficulty of manufacturing a foldable phone.
“Foldable phones are very difficult to produce. That display technology is some of the most complex display technology available on the market today,” said Gurman.
“And so there is no doubt that this is going to come a little bit later than the Pro phones.”
Gurman pointed to the iPhone X as proof. Although Apple announced the iPhone 8 and iPhone X on the same day, the iPhone X released almost two months after the iPhone 8.
This was because of the iPhone X’s new design. According to Gurman, Apple tends to take more time when it’s creating a new major form factor.
Still, it seems the goal for Apple is to release the foldable iPhone before the year is out. Given the new cadence for iPhone releases, the company will not want to let it bleed into 2027.
