Repair guide website iFixit published its provisional findings on Samsung’s latest Galaxy S26 Ultra, and they seem to be a mixed bag.
First, the good. Although the battery uses adhesive, it seems to be easy to remove and doesn’t require a solvent. Also, the USB-C port and rear cameras are mostly individually modular, the power and volume buttons are easy to remove, and Samsung uses Philips screws throughout the Galaxy S26 Ultra.
The biggest negative is the phone’s highlight feature: the display.
Samsung achieved some technical wizardry with the Galaxy S26 Ultra’s display. The new Privacy Display feature prevents those on either side of you from staring at what’s on the display. It even works on specific notifications, if you so choose.
However, it’s also near impossible to remove the display without breaking it.
Even when it used heat and suction, iFixit found the display to be adhered too much to the rest of the phone. As a result, some layers of the display separated before the entire assembly eventually did.
This, alongside the parts experience, was enough for iFixit to give the Galaxy S26 Ultra a provisional score of 5 out of 10. This is the same score the Galaxy S25 Ultra received last year.
