The Apple TV 4K and HomePod Mini haven’t been updated in several years, but that could be set to change soon.
According to Bloomberg‘s Mark Gurman on his Power On newsletter, refreshes for both products could be released very soon. Apple reportedly wanted to wait to release them until its revamped Siri was ready, but it seems the company has run out of patience.
Gurman also noted inventory of the Apple TV 4K and HomePod Mini is currently running low. Historically, this has meant Apple has updated products on the way.
“Shortages more often than not mean that updated products are on the way,” said Gurman. “But let’s not jump to any conclusions here.”
As for what to expect, the Apple TV 4K refresh will reportedly swap out the A15 processor for the newer A17 Pro. In addition to improved performance, this should lead to support for higher quality audio and visuals.
Meanwhile, the HomePod Mini refresh might come with a newer chip and different colors.
