Apple already refreshed the 11-inch and 13-inch versions of the iPad Air with the M4 processor, but it seems the company has one more update up its sleeve.
That is for the base iPad, which currently has the A16 processor. According to Bloomberg‘s Mark Gurman on his Power On newsletter, Apple will release a refresh with the newer A18 processor in the first half of 2026.
Gurman said the idea is for Apple to release the updated iPad in the iOS 26.4 timeframe, which runs until May.
Apart from the processor, don’t expect many other changes with the updated iPad. Apple might include its in-house C1 modem and N1 networking chip, but that’s a big maybe.
