Primarily known for making rugged smartphones and tablets, Ulefone is here with one of the more unique smartphones you will see.
On paper, the RugOne Xnap 7 Pro won’t win performance awards. Around front is a 6.67-inch AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate on the front. Under the hood, the phone features the MediaTek Dimensity 8400 processor, 12GB of RAM, 512GB of storage, and a huge 9,000mAh battery.
You don’t get to the star attraction until you turn the phone around.
On the left sit two camera sensors: the 50MP primary and 64MP night vision sensors. Then there’s the action camera that literally pops out of the phone for use as a standalone action camera.
It’s held in place with magnets, with the pogo pins allowing it to communicate with the phone while docked. That means you can use the camera as a third sensor while it’s docked.
This opens the possibility for other modules to use the same space, such as a telephoto lens or a thermal camera. Ulefone has only announced the action camera so far, so there’s no guarantee we will see other modules.
The RugOne Xnap 7 Pro is currently in the prototype phase, so there’s no word on availability or pricing.
