Alongside its slew of new Windows-running computers, Lenovo also announced an upgrade to its gaming-focused Android tablet.
The first thing you might notice about the Legion Tab Gen 5 is its striking green color. This is what Lenovo calls the Surge colorway, which is available through a collaboration with FIFA. There are also white and black color options if you don’t want as much attention.
On the front is an 8.8-inch display with a resolution of 3,040 by 1,904. This is comfortably more pixel dense than the Legion Tab Gen 3 it replaces and pushes it above a 3K resolution.
Under the hood, the Legion Tab Gen 5 comes with Qualcomm’s latest Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 processor and up to 16GB of RAM. On paper, at least, this should be a healthy boost over its predecessor’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 processor, particularly in gaming.
The biggest hang-up, however, is the price.
The Legion Tab Gen 5 will cost $849 when it ships in May. That is significantly higher than the Gen 3’s $549 price, and Lenovo did not provide a reason for the massive price hike. I suspect the rising RAM and chipset costs are playing a role, but who’s to say.
