In a statement provided to Bloomberg, eBay announced it is laying off around 800 employees. They make up around 6 percent of the company’s total workforce.
eBay was vague in its reasoning for the layoffs, attributing them to a restructuring of its “strategic priorities.” Although eBay said it would somewhat balance the layoffs by additional hiring in “key areas,” the company did not say what those areas are.
“We are taking steps to reinvest across our business and align our structure with our strategic priorities, which will affect certain roles across our workforce,” reads the statement.
Based on eBay’s financials, it seems to be just fine.
The company reported revenue of $3 billion for 2025, a 15-percent increase from 2024. eBay CEO Jamie Iannone called 2025 a “milestone year for eBay” and said the company has “built significant momentum across our strategic priorities, delivering meaningful growth and reinforcing our leadership in recommerce.”
