In its financials published today, Nintendo boosted its Switch 2 sales forecast for the current fiscal year.
The company initially projected to sell 15 million units by March 31, 2026. That has now changed to 19 million, an increase of 26.7 percent.
Nintendo also seems optimistic about game sales. The company initially projected to sell 45 million units by March 31, 2026, but that has now increased to 48 million. For the entire fiscal year, it now projects to sell 125 million Switch games, up from the 105 million it initially projected.
Much of this is seemingly due to how well the Switch 2 has performed so far.
So far, the console has sold a little over 10 million units, with 4.54 million selling in the second quarter ending September 30. Seeing how the holiday season is right around the corner, sales will likely continue their upward trajectory.
Along with general excitement over a new console, games have played a significant role in sustaining the Switch 2’s success.
Since its release in June, the Switch 2 has seen at least one major first-party title released each month. Those include Mario Kart World, Donkey Kong Bananza, and Pokémon Legends: Z-A.
November and December will look to continue that trend. This month will see Hyrule Warriors: Age of Imprisonment on November 6 and Kirby Air Riders later in the month.
December will see Metroid Prime 4: Beyond and several other marquee titles.
