Developer Rockstar Games issued a statement on X in response to recent Grand Theft Auto 6 leaks, and it did not sound super thrilled about them.
Rockstar called the leaks “heartbreaking for our team” and said “the intended game experience may now be impacted by some spoilers.” The studio also apologized for Grand Theft Auto 6‘s long development time.
“We are very excited for everyone to see the extended look tomorrow,” reads the statement in part.
“It has taken longer than we wanted to get it ready, but as with everything we do, we know we need to exceed your expectations, and we are determined to deliver at the level you expect and deserve.”
Grand Theft Auto 6 will get that “extended look” tomorrow on Netflix at 3:00pm Eastern. There’s no word yet on what this entails, though Rockstar will also release the trailer on its YouTube channel and the Grand Theft Auto 6 website.
As Rockstar alluded to, however, some might not even bother watching it. Several gameplay clips have leaked in recent days and showed several mechanics at work, such as carjacking, the six-star Wanted system, and the two protagonists in different situations.
Publisher Take-Two Interactive has responded to the leaks by trying to identify those responsible for the leaks. The publisher also sent subpoenas to Discord and Microsoft in the hopes of identifying said individuals.
