It won’t be much longer until we get official word on Google’s new Pixel 11 smartphones.
Earlier today, the company confirmed its next Made by Google event is scheduled for August 12 at 6:00pm ET in New York City. Invites are starting to roll out to members of the press.
As for what to expect, Google will likely announce the Pixel 11, Pixel 11 Pro, Pixel 11 Pro XL, and Pixel 11 Pro Fold. Each phone’s looks should largely look the same as its predecessor’s, save for a few new colors here and there.
The big questions live in three domains: the processor, memory, and price.
The Tensor G6 is rumored to be built on a new 2nm process. This should allow for improved efficiency and performance, particularly when combined with the rumored switch from Samsung to MediaTek for the modem.
Then there’s the memory. The ongoing memory shortage has led to increased prices, with Google rumored to respond by cutting back the amount of memory on the Pixel 11. This means the regular Pixel 11 might start with 8GB of RAM instead of its predecessor’s 12GB, while the Pixel 11 Pro series might start with 12GB instead of 16GB.
This, in turn, might have an effect on the prices. All of the Pixel 11 phones are rumored to see a $100 price bump due to the memory shortage. At least the Pixel 11 and Pixel 11 Pro might start with 256GB of storage instead of 128GB.
