If rumors are any indication, the upcoming iPhone 18 and iPhone 18e could get a welcome memory upgrade.
Currently, the iPhone 17 and iPhone 17e each have 8GB of RAM. According to supply chain analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, however, Apple is set to bump that up to 9GB for the new iPhone 18 phones.
It’s a small increase in memory, but it should ensure that Apple Intelligence continues to run smoothly into the future.
However, whether it gets all of the new Apple Intelligence features is up in the air. There are two Siri AI features, including the ability to customize its expressiveness and more accurate speed-to-text dictation, that require 12GB of RAM.
Still, an increase in memory is becoming a stranger concept these days. The ongoing memory shortage has led to companies like Microsoft cutting back the amount of memory included in the base versions of its products.
