Report: Resident Evil 5 remake might not happen

Capcom is on a bit of a remake frenzy, but don’t hold your breath for Resident Evil 5.

According to Resident Evil insider Dusk Golem, Capcom isn’t too keen on remaking the polarizing game. That doesn’t mean it won’t ever happen, but it seems Capcom wants to tackle other projects first.

One of those projects could be a remake of Resident Evil: Revelations. “They’ve brought up other things to remake, but from what I’ve heard there’s more internal interest to remake Revelations 1 than RE5 or RE6, which at present no one really wants to take on,” said Dusk Golem on social media platform X.

Originally released on the Nintendo 3DS back in 2012, Revelations focused on Chris Redfield and Jill Valentine as they attempt to stop an organization from spreading a virus using the ocean. The game eventually made the jump to other consoles in following years and received a sequel in 2015.

Meanwhile, Resident Evil 5 was released in 2009 for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. Although the game generally performed well, it was dinged for its African village setting and for deviating even further from the series’ survival horror roots.
