Companies have already upped their prices to account for the ongoing memory shortage. However, for Nothing, it won’t even launch a product at all.
On social media platform X earlier today, Nothing co-founder Akis Evangelidis confirmed the company cancelled the next CMF Phone. Evangelidis said skyrocketing memory prices led to the decision to cancel.
“We were working on a successor but with memory prices where they are right now, we can’t build a phone that feels like a genuine step forward at a price that makes sense for CMF,” wrote Evangelidis.
“As a result, we’ve decided not to launch a new CMF phone this year.”
In a separate comment, Evangelidis noted the CMF Phone 2 Pro, which launched in May 2025, would cost roughly 50 percent more in today’s landscape. The phone is currently out of stock and has been unavailable for purchase directly from Nothing for some time.
The CMF line of phones is best known for its relatively lower prices. Given the current memory shortage, it’s likely that price advantage could go out the window, especially for a smaller company like Nothing.
