There are many reasons to delay a game, and avoiding the blast radius of Grand Theft Auto VI is a very good reason.
That is what developer Playground Games said of the latest delay for Fable, the upcoming reboot of the Xbox fantasy RPG series. Instead of releasing this fall, the game will now launch in February 2027.
According to the Xbox account on X, the delay will allow Fable to “have the dedicated moment it deserves.” Given the big releases coming later this year, that is certainly a fair sentiment to have.
The second half of 2026 is already packed with some headline titles. Apart from Grand Theft Auto VI, we have Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 coming in October, along with Control Resonant and Gears of War: E-Day arriving at some point before the end of the year.
Xbox plans to show off more Fable during its Games Showcase on June 7. The game is slated to release on the PlayStation 5, Xbox Series S/X, and PC.
Fable was first announced in July 2020. However, Microsoft did not share any in-game footage until January of this year.
