This morning is all about Call of Duty, with Activision officially announcing the latest entry in the 23-year series.
Let’s not bury the lede here: Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 will release on October 23 on the PlayStation 5, Xbox Series S/X, PC, and, for the first time, the Switch 2. This will be the first Call of Duty game to launch on a Nintendo console since 2013’s Call of Duty: Ghosts.
This will also be the first Call of Duty game since Ghosts to not release on the PlayStation 4 or Xbox One.
Story-wise, Modern Warfare 4 looks to focus on two aspects: one that focuses on South Korean soldier Private Park, and another that focuses on the now-outlaw Captain Price.
As for the technical aspects, Activision said the game is “built natively for current-generation consoles and PC.” This should allow for “greater scale, density, responsiveness, and consistency across every mode.”
For the PC version in particular, Activision said it was built “with a renewed focus.” This includes “PC-specific optimizations,” as well as various options for upscaling, frame generation, and graphics.
