The Triforce sigil on Link’s hand

Nintendo wasn’t happy with WWE wrestler Cody Rhodes

Cody Rhodes may be an unapologetic nerd when it comes to video games, but he may have upset some folks at Nintendo a while ago.

On a recent episode of Kit Wilson’s What Do You Wanna Talk About podcast, Rhodes said he used the Triforce logo on his wrestling boots back in 2013. In addition to it being a profession for his love of the Legend of Zelda series, Rhodes said using the logo fit his in-ring character.

”I thought the principles of the Triforce, which are power, courage, and wisdom…were just applicable,” said Rhodes.

“Rhodes further explained his in-ring character tries to embody the core tenets of the Triforce logo.

”And I just liked the idea of thinking and leaning towards your own wisdom or what you’ve learned and applying it,” said Rhodes.

”Of being ambitious and wanting to, you know, seek or be powerful.”

Unfortunately for Rhodes, Nintendo was not a fan of his use of the Triforce logo on his wrestling boots.

”I also got a cease and desist from Nintendo,” said Rhodes. “It was very kind. They were polite. They weren’t coming after anybody.”

The good news for Rhodes is he also has the Triforce tattooed on his finger, which Nintendo can’t really do anything about.
