The Mac Mini and Mac Studio might be proving to be a bit too popular for Apple at the moment.
During its latest earnings report, Apple CEO Tim Cook said the two desktop computers could be difficult to find for “several months.”
”We think, looking forward, that the Mac Mini and Mac Studio may take several months to reach supply demand balance,” said Cook.
The Apple executive said demand for the two computers was higher than the company anticipated. Cook pointed to their uses as AI tools as a main driver for their popularity.
”Both of these are amazing platforms for AI and agentic tools and the customer recognition of that is happening faster than what we had predicted, and so we saw higher than expected demand,” said Cook.
It could also be due to the price points.
The Mac Mini starts at $599 with the M4 processor, 16GB of RAM, and 256GB of storage. It’s currently unavailable from Apple’s website, either for in-store pickup or delivery.
The Mac Studio starts at a much higher $1,999. However, it’s viewed as the spiritual successor to the Mac Pro, albeit in a much smaller form factor. As such, it’s currently the most expensive Mac you can buy.
