With seemingly everything getting more expensive nowadays, YouTube Premium is following the trend with its own price hike.
In an email sent out to subscribers, Google announced the price increases will kick in during the June 2026 billing period. The base plan goes from $14 to $16 a month, while the YouTube Premium family plan goes from $23 to $27 a month.
YouTube Lite and YouTube Music Premium are also getting price hikes. Lite increases by $1 to $9 per month, while Music Premium goes from $11 to $12 per month.
Price increases have been somewhat uncommon for YouTube Premium. The last one was in 2023, which amounted to an extra $2 per month at the time.
Regardless, the price hikes mean YouTube Music Premium now costs more than Apple Music
YouTube Premium removes ads from every YouTube video, allows for background playing, and includes YouTube Music Premium for no extra cost.
YouTube Lite removes some ads, but does not remove all of them. Notably, it does not include YouTube Music Premium.
