Report: iPhone Air 2 and iPhone 18e arriving next spring

Apple is set to change when it releases its iPhones, and that change will play out next spring.

According to a report from Bloomberg‘s Mark Gurman, Apple plans to unveil the iPhone Air 2, iPhone 18e, and the standard iPhone 18 in March or April of 2027. That frees up this September to be all about the iPhone 18 Pro, iPhone 18 Pro Max, and the rumored foldable iPhone.

Upgrades for the iPhone 18 and iPhone 18e are expected to be minimal at best, with both getting the A20 chip and that’s it.

The iPhone Air 2, on the other hand, should be more substantial. In addition to the A20 chip, rumored upgrades include a second rear camera, a larger battery, and the iPhone 17 Pro’s vapor chamber cooling system.

A new iPhone Air is a bit of a surprise. Although its announcement last year came with plenty of pomp and circumstance, the iPhone Air hasn’t sold well relative to the iPhone 17 lineup. There were even rumors of Apple cutting back on the iPhone Air’s production.

Still, it seems Apple might be fixing several of the phone’s glaring flaws. As impressive as its profile might be, the iPhone Air was dinged for not having more than one camera and mediocre battery life.
