Those who have prescriptions for glasses might have a few new smarter options to pick from.
According to a Bloomberg report, Meta is working on two new pairs of its smart glasses with “rectangular and round styles.” These would be specifically designed for those who have prescriptions for glasses.
A separate report from The Verge claims these two models are codenamed Scriber and Blazer. Both will reportedly support the Wi-Fi 6 UNII-4 band for faster connectivity, with the Blazer possibly available in a larger size.
The current Ray-Ban smart glasses already offer an option for prescription lenses. As such, it’s possible the new smart glasses could offer improved battery life and different thickness and weight options.
Although Meta hasn’t confirmed or denied the existence of Scriber and Blazer, the company has already hinted of such products.
During a Meta earnings call, CEO Mark Zuckerberg said that “billions of people wear glasses or contacts for vision correction.” He also said that “it’s hard to imagine a world in several years where most glasses that people wear aren’t AI glasses.”
