Contrary to some recent headlines, it turns out that Facebook and Instagram parent company Meta will support Horizon Worlds in VR for the “foreseeable future.”
In the announcement, Meta chief technology officer Andrew Bosworth did not say when that support would end. However, he confirmed fans should not expect new games.
“We will keep Horizon Worlds working in VR for existing games, to support the fans who’ve reached out,” said Bosworth on his Instagram profile.
“For people who already have games they like that they’re using in Horizon Worlds, [they] will be able to download the Horizon Worlds app and use it in VR for the foreseeable future.”
This represents a surprise reversal of Meta’s stance earlier this week. The company previously announced Horizon Worlds would be inaccessible after June 15.
