After only three months of availability, Samsung announced it has discontinued the Galaxy Z TriFold, reported Bloomberg.
Samsung will reportedly restock the phone today for one last time in its native Korea. In the U.S., stock remains available, but is dwindling. Once the Galaxy Z TriFold is sold out, that is it – there will be no more restocks.
Manufacturing is the likely culprit behind the discontinuation. Component prices have increased to the point where Samsung would not turn a profit on the hardware, even if sales continued.
Then there are the components themselves. Making a display that folds in half is already difficult enough, but making a display in mass quantities that is designed to fold twice is a trickier endeavor.
First announced in December 2025, the Galaxy Z TriFold is Samsung’s first smartphone with a display that folds twice. The outer screen measures 6.5 inches on the diagonal, while the inner screen opens to a 10-inch canvas.
It doesn’t come cheap, however – the sole version of the Galaxy Z TriFold costs $2,899. However, scalpers have taken to eBay and significantly inflated the price due to low availability.
