According to an IGN report, publisher Electronic Arts is laying off staff across its Battlefield teams. These include employees at Criterion, Dice, Ripple Effect, and Motive Studios.
The layoffs are taking place as part of a “realignment” across EA’s Battlefield studios, which will remain operational. In a statement sent to IGN, EA confirmed the layoffs.
“We’ve made select changes within our Battlefield organization to better align our teams around what matters most to our community,” reads the statement.
“Battlefield remains one of our biggest priorities, and we’re continuing to invest in the franchise, guided by player feedback and insights from Battlefield Labs.
Battlefield 6 came out of the gates very strong. The game hit a concurrent player peak of 747,400 on Steam in October 2025 and moved seven million copies within the first three days.
However, the game has struggled to maintain its popularity since. Its most recent 24-hour peak was 67,080, whereas Arc Raiders‘ most recent 24-hour peak was 235,475.
