Sony has made it a habit to release its games after launching on the PlayStation. However, it seems the company will change that strategy moving forward.
According to a Bloomberg report, PlayStation will not release major single-player games. As a result, Ghost of Yotei and the upcoming Saros will remain PlayStation-exclusives.
This strategy change will reportedly not impact online games, such as Marathon and Marvel Tokon. It will also not impact Death Stranding 2 and Kena: Scars of Kosmora, since they were developed by non-PlayStation studios.
The report also noted things could change in the future as the state of the video game industry changes over time. Still, this would be a dramatic strategy shift for PlayStation that could align with Xbox’ supposed strategy shift.
Both brands made it a point to release their games on other platforms in recent years. With console sales starting to stagnate and fans possibly confused about the point of getting a particular console, however, things could return to a more traditional approach.
