Unlike the Blade movie, the Marvel’s Blade video game seems to actually be almost done. Unfortunately for fans of the melanated vampire/human hybrid, however, it might not matter.
According to a report in Le Monde, developer Arkane Lyon is close to being shut down for good if it doesn’t find a buyer by November 13. Although Xbox separated itself from Arkane Lyon back in July, French labor laws provide a three-month grace period for companies with at least 1,000 employees to try and find a buyer.
For Arkane Lyon, that grace period will end on November 13, after which it will need to make some very hard decisions. In the meantime, the studio has continued work on Marvel’s Blade, with union representatives saying the game is “nearing the end” of its development.
These comments could be an attempt to convince potential bidders to take a chance on Arkane Lyon. After all, Marvel’s Blade seems to be almost done, meaning there would be little to no investment needed at this point to bring it across the finish line.
Arkane Lyon is best known for its work on the Dishonored series and, more recently, Deathloop. The studio announced Marvel’s Blade back in 2023, but there have been no updates on the game’s progress since.
