Those who own Casely’s Power Pods power banks should stop using them immediately.
That is according to a re-announced recall, which affects all Power Pods units sold through Casely’s website, Amazon, and other online stores between March 2022 and September 2024. The power bank was sold for anywhere between $30 and $70.
According to Casely and the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), the lithium-ion batteries in the power banks were “overheating, expanding or catching fire.”
Both organizations first announced the recall in April 2025 following 51 reports. Since then, there have been 28 additional reports, including a serious plane incident and the death of a 75-year-old New Jersey resident due to second and third degree burns from an explosion.
Anyone who has the Power Pod are urged to stop using it immediately and submit a claim through Casely’s website for a free replacement. Once the claim has been submitted, they are then urged to dispose of the power packs at local facilities that take lithium-ion batteries.
